Crimson Desert Guide – How to Unlock All Elemental Skills

Crimson Desert features four elemental skills locked behind significant gameplay progression and puzzle-solving for each one. Lightning Surge, Frost Mantle, Flame Strike, and Storm Veil can be wielded and applied to skills and attacks — transforming your combat capabilities.

This guide covers how to unlock all four elements and the recommended skills to have for an easier experience.

⚡ Lightning Surge

Unlock Location: Scholastone Institute → Spire of the Stars → Abyss portal to Sanctorum of Insight

Step‑by‑Step Path

1. Once you reach Scholastone Institute in Scholastone by Chapter 4, continue to the Spire of the Stars.
2. Enter the Abyss portal to reach the Sanctorum of Insight.
3. Solve the puzzle and platform to the Secret Garden.
4. Complete the simple plug‑and‑play puzzle, enter the door, and ascend to the surface to repair the device.
5. More platforming leads to the Vault of Vengeance.
6. Move cubes into position and fire at yellow targets simultaneously. Repeat in the next laser room.
7. Proceed through more laser fields and short puzzles to the surface.
8. Further platforming brings you to the Courtyard of Precision.
9. Complete the simultaneous multi‑target puzzle to claim your prize: Lightning Surge.

Effect: Creates a field of electricity for 10 Spirit.

❄️ Frost Mantle

Unlock Location: Spire of Ringing Truth (south‑west of Wayward Woods) → Abyss portal to Ether Rest

Step‑by‑Step Path

1. Proceed to the Spire of Ringing Truth, south‑west of Wayward Woods.
2. Enter the Abyss portal to reach the Ether Rest.
3. Ascend air currents by gliding to reach another puzzle.
4. More platforming and gliding lead to Frostbitten Paradise.
5. This puzzle is entirely Axiom Force dependent — move objects to activate switches.
6. More platforming leads to the Path of Trials.
7. Ascend to the next puzzle: extract a frozen chip and immerse it in lava to thaw it.
8. Plug the thawed chip into its socket to continue ascending.
9. Reach the summit to receive Frost Mantle.

Effect: Creates a barrier of frost around you.

Recommended Skills

🔥 Flame Strike

Unlock Location: Directly linked to the end of Frost Mantle’s gauntlet → continue platforming to Sanctorum of Darkness

Step‑by‑Step Path

1. From the end of Frost Mantle’s gauntlet, continue platforming to the Sanctorum of Darkness.
2. Move the laser to the button, then double back and descend one level to the spinning door.
3. Once inside, grab the chip and ascend to the surface.
4. Socket the chip to activate a new laser, then focus it on another button.
5. Don’t dawdle — quickly glide through the turbine to the other side before it spins up fully.
6. Hit the button, then head upwards and out for more platforming to the Loop of Life.
7. Grab a chip and socket it to initiate the first ring into a spin, then grab the next chip for the sealed door leading to the second ring.
8. Once through the door, take both the chip here and the previous one to the second ring.
9. Socket one chip, and take the remaining one to the third ring.
10. Hit the button to wrap up this puzzle and platform onward to the Tree of Slumber.
11. Stand atop the columns and slam them until a ring of white appears around each one, lighting up the central column.
12. Hit it to unlock Flame Strike.

Effect: Performs a powerful strike while wreathed in flame.

🌪️ Storm Veil

Unlock Location: Spire of Clockwork (Chapter 8) → ascend through clockwork mechanism to Riddle Square

Step‑by‑Step Path

1. Storm Veil is locked behind significant story progression — you’ll need to reach the Spire of Clockwork in Chapter 8.
2. You will have acquired the key to access it in the previous chapter.
3. Once through the Spire of Clockwork Main Gate, ascend through the clockwork mechanism to reach Riddle Square.
4. This is a timed challenge — you’ll be flying through a number of rings before hitting a button.
5. That’s it — you now have Storm Veil.

Effect: Deploys a smoke cloud to escape enemy sight.
